Untappd 5.0 keeps check-ins, badges and friends, and rearranges where you find them. The bottom bar now has four tabs: Discover, Community, Shop and Search. This article walks those pages, then covers what moved or was removed. New to Untappd? Start with Getting Around Untappd 5.0.
Discover
Discover is grounded in location based exploration. The header shows your nearby device location on the left (for example, Boston, MA) and the gear and your avatar on the right. Tap the location name to change to another location. Places, Events, Badges, Shop and Drink sections will all update based on the location you pick.
The round, yellow ‘+’ button at the bottom of the page above the search tab is the new check-in button. On drink, producer (the brewery, winery, or distillery) and place pages it's a yellow pill labeled Check-in, at the bottom right of the page.
If you used the three-dot check-in shortcut on search results, it's now a Check-in row in the three-dot menu on a drink in search results or in a list, and on a check-in in the feed. Full steps: How to Check-In a Drink.
Community
The feed you knew as Activity is now the Community tab.
The Community Tab is now the home for friend check-ins, place updates, nearby check-ins, blogs and news. Tap a filter under the header to see one type at a time: Friends, Places, Nearby, Blogs and News. Upcoming events for the location you selected live on Discover, not as a Community filter.
Tap Friends for check-ins from your friends only. Your groups appear in a carousel above that feed, with a New tile to create one. To edit or delete a group, open the group from Community, or tap the friends icon on your profile (next to the settings gear) to open Your Friends, then tap Groups. Full steps: How to use Groups.
Notifications
All of your notifications live on Community. Tap the bell at the top right, next to your avatar. The Community tab icon shows a red dot signifying when notifications are unread.
Profile
Open your profile by tapping your avatar at the top right of Discover or Community. Your check-ins are still there, under Check-ins, with a unique drink chart. Your badges are at the top of your profile: tap the Badges tile to see them. Your stats are in the Drink Statistics section — tap that button or the ratings chart.
Favorites
You can highlight up to three favorite drinks on your profile under Favorites. Open your profile, find Favorites, and tap Add a Favorite on an empty slot. Full steps: Showcase Favorite Drinks on Your Profile.
Flair
A Flair is the small aesthetic overlay applied to your profile image. Open your profile, tap the edit pencil, then Change Flair, and pick one under Your Flairs. Some Flairs are locked to Untappd Insiders. Full steps: Choose a Profile Flair.
Profile links
You can add up to three links on your profile (website, shop, social, and so on). Open your profile, tap the edit pencil, then Add a link under Social links. Full steps: Add Social Links to Your Profile.
Friend QR Code
Nametag is now Friend QR Code. Open your profile, tap the three-dot menu at the top right, and choose Friend QR Code. You can have the other person scan your code, or you can scan theirs.
Settings
Open Settings with the gear at the top right of Discover, or on your profile. The gear isn't on Community.
You can search Settings. Tap the magnifying glass in the Settings header, type a word (for example, hide or privacy), and tap a result to jump there. Full steps: Search Your Settings.
Search
Search moved from the Discover header to the Search tab at the bottom of the screen. Start typing to see results split into Drink, Producer and Place as you did before. Full steps: Search on Untappd.
Shop
The Shop tab shows options to buy Untappd merchandise, drinks, or both. What you see depends on your shipping eligibility by location. Shop doesn't appear if you're using Untappd without an account.
What was removed
Direct messaging is gone in 5.0. Your old messages are no longer available. To share a drink, producer or place, tap its three-dot menu and choose Share to open your phone's share sheet. The three-dot menu on a check-in in the feed has a Share row too.
Facebook sign-in isn't available in 5.0. If you created your account with Facebook, reset your password using the email on your account, then sign in. Full steps: I created my account with Facebook and want to convert to a normal account.
