New Registration Free Experience on Untappd

You can use Untappd without creating an account. On the registration screen, tap Skip, confirm you're of legal drinking age on When's your birthday?, then browse drinks, producers (the brewery, winery, or distillery), and places. Check-ins, toasts (likes), badges, and most social features still need an account.

Start without an account

  1. Open Untappd after install (or after logging out).
  2. On the registration screen, tap Skip.

  1. On When's your birthday?, enter Your Birthday and Your Country, then tap Continue.

  1. If you meet the age requirements in your country, you'll land in the app as a guest. Create an account anytime from the sign-up prompt when you try something that needs an account, or from the Make This App Yours! card at the top of Settings.
  2. If you're under the legal drinking age for your country, you can't create an account or use the app without one. You'll see We'll be here when you're ready. with the number of days until you can sign up.

What you can do without an account

  • Search and view drinks, producers, and places
  • View menus and info on Verified Places (a bar or store that manages its menu on Untappd)
  • Subscribe to Verified Places for alerts
  • Browse maps and nearby content on Discover
  • Browse nearby check-ins on the Community tab at the bottom of the screen
  • Share links to drinks, producers, places, and events
  • Change a reduced set of settings (units, display, and similar)

What needs an account

  • Check in, earn badges, toast, or comment
  • Add friends, search for people, or keep a profile
  • Report or flag content
  • Suggest edits, or add drinks, producers, or places
  • RSVP to events
  • Add drinks to lists or subscribe to a drink
  • Use the Shop tab
  • Account settings (profile, privacy, connections, and similar)

When you try one of those, Untappd shows the sign-up prompt.

Good to know

  • When you first start, you may see permission screens for location and notifications, then Your taste in a few taps (optional personalization).
  • Location is when-in-use only. Untappd does not ask for background location during onboarding.

Don't see it?

  • Don't see Skip? You're already in the app. To browse without an account, you need a fresh install or a logged-out state that returns to the registration screen.
  • Don't see the Shop tab? It's hidden while you're using Untappd without an account.
