Push and email alerts live in Settings (the gear icon at the top right of Discover, or on your profile), then Notifications. Push covers friend activity, drink and place subscriptions, product updates, and shop promotions. Email is a separate screen.
Open notification settings
- Open Settings.
- Tap Notifications.
- Choose Push Notifications or Email.
Push Notifications
- Tap Push Notifications.
- Turn groups on or off under Social, Friend Check-in Alerts, Drinks, General, Places, and Shop Promotions.
- To stop all pushes on this device, tap Disable Push Notifications at the bottom.
If the device is not registered for push, you'll see Enable Push Notifications first.
Friend activity
- Under Social, open Friend Notifications to choose who alerts you and whether you want all of their check-ins or only nearby ones.
- Under Friend Check-in Alerts, set Distance (1, 5, 10, 20, or 30 miles or kilometers, based on your settings) for nearby friend alerts.
- Tap What is this? for more detail on friend check-in alerts (opens the app-linked help article).
Also under Social: turn Toasts, Comments, and Tags and Mentions on or off. Direct message alerts are gone in 5.0.
Drink subscriptions
- On a drink page, tap the bell to subscribe. You'll get a push when that drink is added to a nearby Verified Place menu.
- Manage the list under Push Notifications > Drinks > Drink Subscriptions.
- Under Drinks, use All Drink Notifications to mute or unmute every drink-subscription push without removing drinks from your list.
Place subscriptions
- On a Verified Place page (a bar or store that manages its menu on Untappd), tap the bell and choose All Alerts, New Drinks, New Events, or None.
- Manage subscriptions under Push Notifications > Places > Place Subscriptions.
Place subscription alerts are for Verified Places only. Under Places, you can also turn New Drinks and New Events on or off for all the places you subscribe to. Event Reminders are for events you've marked Interested or Going.
Track an unverified place
- Open an unverified place page.
- Tap Notify Me, then confirm.
- When that place becomes verified, you'll get a push if Place Became Verified is on under Push Notifications > Places.
General and Shop Promotions
Under General, turn Product Announcements and Recappd (the Untappd annual statistics wrap up) on or off.
Under Shop Promotions, turn these on or off: Wish List Drinks Available in Shop, Back in Stock, Drink Offers and Promotions, and Merchandise Offers and Promotions.
- From Notifications, tap Email.
- Turn individual emails on or off:
- Social: Toasts, Comments, Friend Requests
- General: Weekly Newsletter, Product Announcements, Recappd
- Promotional Emails: Check-in Promotional Offers, Partner Direct Offers
- Shop Promotions & New Offers: Wish List Drinks Available in Shop, Item Back in Stock, Drink Offers and Promotions, Merchandise Offers and Promotions
- To change them all at once, tap Turn off all emails at the bottom. If all emails are already off, you'll see Turn on all emails instead.
Open your notification inbox
- Tap the bell icon at the top of the Community tab at the bottom of the screen.
- You can also reach notification settings from the notifications screen, using the gear icon at the top right.
Good to know
- Push and Email are separate screens in 5.0.
- Push settings apply to the device you're using. If you use Untappd on more than one phone or tablet, change them on each one.
- The Email row is hidden if you're using Untappd without an account.
Don't see it?
Don't see push options beyond Enable Push Notifications? Allow Untappd notifications in your phone's Settings, then return and enable push in the app.
