If a badge didn't unlock, check the rules below for that badge. Still stuck? Open a ticket and we'll look into it. For past check-ins counting toward new core badges, see How to Enable Retroactive Badges (Settings > Preferences > Earn Core Badges Retroactively).
Any country-based badge
Country badges use the producer's home location (the brewery, winery, or distillery), not where the bottle says it was made. The badge hint is about drinking different drinks from a producer in that country.
Example: Evil Twin is based in New York City. Bottles may say "Made in Denmark," but the country for Untappd is the United States.
The producer page lists that home location. For example, Bissell Brothers is in Portland, ME United States:
New Brew Thursday
Check in a beer you've never had before on 3 different Thursdays within 30 days. Thursday is based on your local time when you check in. Only beer counts toward this badge, so wine, spirits, cider, and other drinks won't add progress. You can level up once every 20 days. To check, open the badge from Badges on your profile and look at the Unlocked date under the badge name. If it was less than 20 days ago, you can't earn the next level yet.
Power Month or The Usual
Both badges count check-ins over the last 30 days, and your account needs to be at least 30 days old before they can unlock. Checking in 30 drinks in your first two days isn't enough. Once your account is 30 days old, the next check-in that meets the rule unlocks the badge.
- Power Month: 30 check-ins in the last 30 days. Any drinks count, repeats included.
- The Usual: the same drink checked in 15 times in the last 30 days.
Winter Wonderland
The drink's name or style needs to include a winter or holiday word. "Winter" is the main one, and words like Snow, Blizzard, Christmas, Holiday, Yule, and Xmas (plus their equivalents in several other languages) also count. Each level needs 5 more different qualifying drinks.
Cheers to Independent US Craft Beers
The producer must be listed as an Independent Craft Brewery per the Brewers Association. There are several examples of breweries in and outside of the USA that are BA members and will unlock this badge. See Untappd's list: untappd.com/sponsor/brewers_assocation, or search the Brewers Association seal directory.
Brew Crawl
Check in at 3 different places in one night. A place counts if its category is under Dining & Drinking (bars, pubs, breweries, taprooms, restaurants, cafes, and similar), so it isn't limited to places listed as a Bar. The check-ins need to be between 6 pm and 5 am your local time and within about 7 hours of each other. The badge unlocks on your next check-in after you've hit 3 places, so if you're at 3 and don't see it yet, one more check-in that night should do it.
Find The Source
This badge looks at the category of the place you check in at, not the producer's home location. The place needs to be categorized on Untappd as a Brewery, Cidery, or Meadery. You can see a place's category on its page. Wineries, distilleries, taprooms, and bars don't count, even if the producer owns them.
Risk Taker
Check in 10 different recommended drinks within 90 days. A drink counts as recommended if you check it in directly from a recommendation (the recommended carousel or recommendations page), or if you added it to your wish list from a recommendation and check it in later while it's still on your wish list. Finding the drink on your own doesn't count, even if it also shows up in your recommendations.
Smooth As Silk
Select Nitro as the serving style on the check-in. Only the serving style you choose counts. A drink with "Nitro" in its name or style won't unlock this badge unless Nitro is selected as the serving style.
Trappist Travesty
Only drinks from these producers count: Rochefort (Abbaye Notre-Dame de Saint-Rémy), Tre Fontane, La Trappe (Koningshoeven), Chimay, Orval, Westvleteren, Westmalle, Achel, Tynt Meadow (Mount Saint Bernard Abbey), Spencer, Engelszell, and Zundert (De Kievit). A brewery that calls itself Trappist but isn't on this list won't add progress, and "Trappist" in a drink's name doesn't matter. The list is based on the Authentic Trappist Product (ATP) designation. More details: trappist.be ATP label.
Liquid Lunch
Check in 5 drinks between 12:00 pm and 2:59 pm on weekdays (Monday through Friday) in the same month. Times are based on your device's local time when you check in, so travel and daylight saving changes are already accounted for. Repeat check-ins of the same drink count. If you're sure you met the rules, open a ticket.
Wake Up and Smell the Coffee
The drink's style on Untappd must be one of these four: Porter - Coffee, Porter - Imperial / Double Coffee, Stout - Coffee, or Stout - Imperial / Double Coffee. A coffee beer listed under any other style won't count, even if "coffee" is in its name.
All American
Check in any 7 of these drinks:
- Bud Light
- Bud Light Platinum
- Budweiser
- Budweiser Select
- Budweiser Select 55
- Coors Banquet
- Coors Light
- High Life
- Miller Genuine Draft
- Miller Lite
Good to know
- Badge progress is based on Untappd's drink, producer, place, style, and serving-style data, not necessarily what the label says.
- Badges are checked when you check in. Editing a check-in later doesn't award new badges, and it doesn't remove badges you already unlocked.
- Retroactive progress only runs if Earn Core Badges Retroactively is on, and only for eligible core badges.
