First of all, welcome! We're excited to have you and your beers be apart of the Untappd community. Are you a new brewery? Are you an established brewery that already is on Untappd and wants to claim control of your page? Is your page claimed but you don't know who claimed it? Well you've come to the right place - this guide should help all of those situations, get you back on track to interacting with your customers, and getting the word out about your new brews!
- ..a brewery already seen on Untappd, but we haven't claimed or manage our brewery page."
It is a common misconception that you must first create a User account before you can claim your brewery - well that is not the case! You can claim your brewery without having a User account. When you claim your brewery you will be creating a Brewery account with its own unique username and password. The email used to claim your brewery must not already be associated with another account as well - and creating a user account before claiming your brewery can cause you to receive the error:
You will only receive if there is already an existing account associated with the email you provide on your claim.
You can find out more about how to Claim your Brewery here.
- ...a brewery already seen on Untappd, and our brewery appears to already be claimed - but we have no idea who did this or how to get back into the Brewery account"
No worries - odds are an old employee claimed it and has now left, but we can fix that! All you need to do is send a quick email over to firstname.lastname@example.org with:
1) Your brewery page link address
2) An alternative - BREWERY AFFILIATED email address that we can associate with the brewery account
After we receive this information we will be able to reset that for you and help you regain access to your account. Once you're logged in you will want to check this Brewery Page Management Guide out for any initial questions you may have as you get back up and running again with your claimed brewery page.
- ...a new brewery that is not already on Untappd - but we want to be! How do we get started?"
Here at Untappd, we are very enthusiastic about beer, and drinking socially - who wouldn't be?! So the journey on Untappd all starts there - with the beer. If you're a new brewery looking to get started on Untappd, the first thing you will want to do is add your beer to Untappd. Untappd allows its users to add beer whenever they find something that is not in our database. This means you will need a User Account before you can add the beer. You can create an account here. If you plan to claim your brewery - don't use the email you plan to claim the brewery with when creating an account. It's best to just make a personal account if you don't have one already. :-)
OK - you have a user account now, what's next? Searching for your beer, either on the web or in the app, is the next step.
Why not add the brewery first, and then add the beer to the brewery? Glad you asked! During the Beer Creation Process (which is how users add beers to Untappd), you will be asked to associate the Beer with a Brewery before the beer can be created - the beer must be created before the brewery
Of course - you won't be able to find your beer, because it needs to be added!
Tapping "Can't find the beer?" in-app or selecting "You can add it here" on the web will take you to the beer creation screen.
In-app and on the web you will see this, and it's important that you read it, or your beer may be removed:
Once you've accepted these conditions, and you sure that your beverage is allowed on Untappd You will need to search for your brewery, during the Beer Creation Process - but it won't show in a search, because the brewery hasn't been added to Untappd yet! When you search for a brewery that is not in our system - you will see a message saying that it couldn't be found - all you need to do is tap "Can't find brewery?" in-app or select "Click here to add it" on the web to add the brewery to our database.
After adding your brewery to Untappd, you can finish adding your beer - by adding the ABV, IBU, Style, and a Description that will appear on the Beer Page.
YOU'RE DONE! Your brewery and your first beer have been added. You can continue to add beers this way, except now, your brewery will show up in search as you are adding the beer - because you just added the brewery to our database! You rock! (Well - we think so.)
If you're interested in engaging with your customers as your brewery, want to control your brewery account to ensure accuracy, are interested in your brewery pages analytics, or any other reason you may want to control your Brewery Page - you're going to want to Claim your Brewery.
