Storage areas are the places where you keep and count product, such as the walk-in, the keg room, or behind the bar. Deliveries, counts, and stock levels are all organized by storage area, so set these up before anything else in Inventory.
Your Default Area
Every venue starts with one storage area named Main, marked as the Default. Product lands in the default area any time you do not choose a different one, such as during a delivery.
How to Add a Storage Area
- Open Storage Areas in the left-hand menu.
- The first time you visit, Inventory suggests areas that venues commonly use, such as Front Bar, Keg Room, and Walk-In or Cold Room. Click Add next to any that match your venue.
- For anything the suggestions do not cover, click + Add Storage Area, type a name, and click Save.
A confirmation appears at the top of the page and the new area shows up in your list. Add as many as you need. Most venues end up with three to six.
How to Rename a Storage Area
- Click the three-dot menu at the right end of the area's row.
- Choose Rename, type the new name, and click Save.
Everything tracked in that area, including stock, history, and counts, stays put. Only the name changes.
How to Change Your Default Storage Area
Open the three-dot menu on the area you want and choose Set as Default. The Default badge moves to that area, and new deliveries land there whenever you do not pick a specific area while receiving.
How to Reorder Your Storage Areas
Grab the drag handle at the right end of a row and drag the area up or down the list. The order you set here is the order you will see everywhere else in Inventory, so arrange areas the way you would naturally walk the venue.
How to Deactivate or Delete a Storage Area
Both options live in the area's three-dot menu.
Deactivate hides an area you are not using right now but keeps its history. The area moves to an Inactive section at the bottom of the page, and you can reactivate it from there at any time.
Delete permanently removes the area. Inventory asks you to confirm first, since deleting cannot be undone, although the name becomes available again for a new area.
Important: Once an area has ever held stock, even if you later move everything back out of it, Delete disappears from its menu for good. Deactivate is the only way to retire an area with any transaction history.
