Untappd celebrates the diversity of our global community, encompassing a rich tapestry of cultures, regions, and tastes. It’s a space where anyone can join, regardless of their experience with craft beer, knowledge of local venues, or depth of understanding in the ever-growing world of craft beverages.
We’ve carefully considered a variety of perspectives to cultivate a safe, open, and authentic environment. Untappd is more than just a platform for sharing and discovering beverages; it’s a vibrant community where friends, breweries, and venues connect and engage with each other.
Your participation plays a crucial role in fostering this spirit. We ask you to join us in respecting all members of the Untappd community – from breweries and venues to fellow users. By promoting mutual respect, we strengthen our mission to be the premier resource for the craft beverage world.
To support this vision, we’ve established guidelines that safeguard our community’s integrity. Your use of Untappd signifies agreement to these guidelines and our Terms of Use. Adhering to these principles is essential, as failure to do so may result in the removal of content, account suspension, or other necessary actions. Together, let’s maintain Untappd as a welcoming and positive space for everyone. Please note that while this list is fairly comprehensive, we reserve the right to remove any content we deem inappropriate or harmful to the culture of Untappd.

Help us stay spam free by not artificially collecting toasts, friends, or check-ins, posting repetitive comments or content, or repeatedly contacting people for commercial purposes. Using the check-in or rating features for the purposes of retaliating against another user or brewery is not allowed.
-
Using the rating feature to falsely increase or decrease a brewery or beer’s rating is not allowed.

For example, reviews aren't the place for rants about a business's employment practices, political ideologies, extraordinary circumstances, or other matters that don't address the core of the consumer experience.

Follow the law.
-
Untappd is not a place to support or praise terrorism, organized crime, or hate groups. Offering sexual services, buying or selling firearms and illegal or prescription drugs (even if it’s legal in your region) is also not allowed. Remember to always follow the law when offering to sell or buy other regulated goods. We have zero-tolerance when it comes to sharing sexual or endangering content involving minors or threatening to post intimate images of others.

Respect other members of the Untappd community.
-
We want to foster a positive, diverse community. We remove content that contains credible threats or hate speech, content that targets private individuals, groups, or breweries to degrade or shame them, personal information meant to blackmail or harass someone, and repeated unwanted messages.
- Racist and bigoted comments are expressly forbidden and are considered hate speech. This is defined as speech that demeans an individual or group on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, or any other similar ground.
-
It's never okay to encourage violence or attack anyone based on their race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, disabilities, or diseases. When hate speech is being shared to challenge it or to raise awareness, we may allow it. In those instances, we ask that you express your intent clearly.
-
Serious threats of harm to the public and personal safety aren't allowed. This includes specific threats of physical harm as well as threats of theft, vandalism, and other financial harm.

Help us keep the community strong
-
Each of us is an important part of the Untappd community. If you see something that you think may violate our guidelines, please help us by using our built-in reporting option. We have a team that reviews these reports and works as quickly as possible to remove content that doesn’t meet our guidelines. Even if you or someone you know doesn’t have an Untappd account, you can still file a report. When you complete the report, try to provide as much information as possible, such as links, usernames, and descriptions of the content, so we can find and review it quickly. We may remove entire posts if either the imagery or associated comments violate our guidelines.
-
You may find content you don’t like but that doesn’t violate the Community Guidelines. If that happens, you can unfriend or block the person who posted it. If there's something you don't like in a comment on one of your posts, you can delete that comment. Breweries can also hide check-ins from their brewery pages if the check-in contains a check-in comment. Breweries cannot hide check-ins for just rating alone.
-
Many disputes and misunderstandings can be resolved directly between members of the community. If you believe that a user has checked-in the wrong beer - try commenting on the check-in (as a user or as a brewery) to inquire about the believed mistake. If you believe someone is violating your trademark, you can file a trademark report. Don't target the person who posted it by posting screenshots and drawing attention to the situation, because that may be classified as harassment.
-
We may work with law enforcement, including when we believe that there’s a risk of physical harm or threat to public safety.
