This is an Insider feature (a paid Untappd subscription). Insiders can tag a place on a check-in even when it is more than about 60 miles from where you are. There is no separate toggle. On the check-in screen, tap Where are you drinking? and search any city.
Start a check-in with the yellow Check-in button (the round + at the bottom right of Discover and Community), or from a drink, producer (the brewery, winery, or distillery), or place page.
Add a place farther than 60 miles
- Start a check-in and pick your drink.
- On the check-in screen, tap Where are you drinking?
- In Add location, enter a city, state, or zip code, then search for and select the place.
Then tap Check-in. You'll see that place on your check-in.
Good to know
- All Insiders get this. You do not turn it on in Settings.
- Without Insider, you can only add a place within 60 miles (96 km) of where you are.
- If your Insider subscription ends, older check-ins keep their places. New far-away tagging stops.
Why didn't I earn a badge?
Check-ins outside the usual ~60-mile radius do not grant badges right away (including non-place badges). Progress still counts. The badge is awarded on a later qualifying check-in within about 60 miles of a qualifying location.
Example: you drank at a place, forgot to check in, and later tagged that place from more than 60 miles away. You still get progress toward that place's badge, but the next level waits until you check in within about 60 miles of a qualifying location.
