Wondering how the badge levels work? Look no further!
As of our August 15, 2017 update the maximum level for all badges has been increased to 100.
This is increased from the previous maximum level of 50.
This change in the maximum level has no effect on new users - but current users who have previously maxed out the badge may see that they have all of a sudden been given a higher level of the badge on the next check-in that qualifies for that badge. This is due to the nature of how badges work. When a badge changes from non-level to a level badge, or there is an increase in its maximum level, the badge level is RETROACTIVE to the date of the original badge creation. You can find the badge creation date in the badge detail page. This is the default setting for Untappd for all badges, the badge's level is always retroactive to date of its creation. This means if a badge was created on 4/1/16 and turns in a level badge (or increases to 100), your level is retroactive to the date of it's creation.
This is not to be confused with Retroactive Badges - if you enabled the retroactive badges setting, it will look on your entire beer history, not just the history between your most recent check-in and the badges creation date.
These level changes were made in response to feedback we received from our users on a recent survey.
