NOTE: This guide is intended for Mobile Untappd.
So you just just joined Untappd. Now what? It's time to start finding Friends.
The friend feed is the default view that loads when you open Untappd for the first time. If you just created an account, you will be presented with the following screen:
When you first join Untappd, you're shown some random users to help start your friend discovery. Untappd uses the friend method where both parties must accept the friendship to see each-other's Beer check-ins.
If you want to request to be someone's friend friend - all you need to do is tap on the green "+" symbol next to their name. You will see this symbol throughout the site.
Accepting Friend Requests
When a user has requested to be your friend, you will receive an email notification letting you know that you have a friend request.
To accept, open Untappd on your mobile phone and log in. You will be presented with your Friend Feed and at the top, a list of pending friend requests. You will have an option to either approve or reject the friend request.
Once you accept the friend request, you have now shared your check-ins with that user. Your feed will refresh and display the most recent check-in from that user.
Searching From Friends
Searching for Friends is a snap. Just use the search on the top of the Friend Feed to enter in the name or location of the person you want to find.
For example, I searched the term "Doug".
You can search by Untappd username and location such as "gregavola" or "New York City" to find people around you!
Finding Friends from your Social Networks
If you have already read the article on how to link up your Facebook and Twitter and have done so, you will see one or two buttons on the top of your Friend Feed.
You can click the buttons to find your friends on Facebook and Twitter that are also on Untappd. You can hide his panel at anytime by tapping the "Hide Social Search" button. If you want to search your friends again, you can head over to your profile page under the Settings tab.
