Problem with friend request

I have an issue wherein I have sent a friend request and the same person has sent a friend request to me. However, neither of us can accept the others friend request. When I click on his profile it show "Request Pending" and he says it shows the same when he views my profile.

Can this be fixed?!

    You should have a pending request now that you can approve.
