When i select "take a photo" or "choose existing" photo, ultimately what end up happening is the app restarts itself. i am unable to get photos to upload because whenever i try, the app restarts itself.....

Droid X with latest Android does the same thing. Restarts the app when I try and take a picture and add it. Choose existing doesn't do this, so I'm forced to take a picture ahead of time and then add it.

Have you updated to version 1.3?
Thanks,
Greg

1.3 fixed it for me. I didn't have a chance to try it until tonight. Worked a treat.

I thought that 1.3 had fixed it, but it hasn't. Occasionally (probably half the time), if I take a picture while checking in instead of using a picture already stored on my computer it resets the app and takes me back to the opening splash screen. I then have to re-enter everything and take another picture, which half the time causes the same thing again. The only workaround I've found is to take the picture, do the check-in and then choose the picture from my gallery. I've gotten to the point that I just don't bother with pictures the vast majority of the time.

Have you tried re-installing the application? Have you tried closing other apps that are active at that time?

I wuploaded an image this evening via iPhone (most current OS/Untappd) and ended up without an image and a Hopcast badge. Life is fine with or without the image, I am not sure why/how the Hopcast badge was assigned to me.
Support Staff 15 Posted by Greg Avola on 06 Feb, 2012 12:44 PM
Did you get an error? Did you close the app (click the "home button") while the upload was happening?
The HopCast badge is given out when you have 3 beers that http://untappd.com/user/hopcast has had in the last 30 days.
Thanks,
Greg

Matthew,
So the upload process said: "GREAT YOUR PHOTO WAS UPLOADED" - however there was no photo attached to the checkin?
Thanks,
Greg

Correct.

Matthew,
Very strange. Without knowledge of your user-name or anything else - I can't really investigate this. However - it might have been a fluke. Let me know if you see this happen again.
Thanks,
Greg

I too am having problems uploading photos from an iPhone 4s either taken from the camera or camera roll. Sometimes they upload with success just fine, but often it hangs at 98% uploaded. Check-in to the beer is successful, but the photo upload fails. Any help appreciated.

How is your connection when you attempt to upload?
Thanks,
Greg

Greg:
Thanks for responding.
I do have a solid wifi connection whenever using Untappd on my iPhone 4S.
As a follow-up, I have noticed since yesterday that sometimes after checking in to a brew and the picture upload hangs at 98%, my check-in and picture are visible on the Untapped website on a computer. Possibly the picture is actually getting to your server, but the app is not able to get that confirmation message all the time. Curious.
Keep up the good work. My friends love the app.
Cheers -

brewpal,
I'll take a look into this and see what happening. Is usually happening during the weekend or during the week?
Thanks,
Greg

Greg:
It seems to happen at random times, but likely more often during evenings and weekends (which I assume is a time of heavy server traffic).

I have Sansung Galaxy and app version1.3 and have the same problem of upload photos. The app restart.
26 Posted by theboozetraveler on 17 Feb, 2012 11:06 PM
I fixed the problem. I switched to an iPhone.
Support Staff 27 Posted by Greg Avola on 18 Feb, 2012 04:43 PM
Fernando,
Try the following:
1 Force quit your the app
2. Reboot your phone
3. Reload the phone
4. Open Untappd and try to take a picture again.
Let me know if that fixes the problem.
Thanks,
Greg

Deleted the app, restarted iPhone, reloaded app. I was able to upload one photo, but got the same "failed to upload" issues as before on Sat night.
Hope you can resolve this issue as it is half the fun of the app. If not, it might be a deal-breaker. :-(

Brewpal,
Photos are working on iPhone 3G, 3Gs, 4 and 4S. They have been tested on all devices - so it's hard to fix when I can't reproduce.
I apologize if I have asked you this before - so when you upload the file - are you closing the app or waiting for the bar to finish.
The error that I get when you are uploading photos is: The file was only partially uploaded. This could mean a couple of things:
Perhaps - we can hop on a skype call and attempt to fix this problem - email me at greg AT untappd and we can set up something up.
Thanks,
Greg

I have a Droid 2 and am running 2.3.3 and am having a similar problem.
My phone is set up to keep the app up to date.
I have been able to upload some photos but most of the time it restarts the app so now i dont bother.
Support Staff 31 Posted by Greg Avola on 24 Feb, 2012 04:33 PM
Tony,
Have you try re-installing the app? Do you have enough space on your SD card to take the photo?
Thanks,
Greg
